Webinar on business opportunities in East African countries
(Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda)
The Economic Development Board organized in collaboration with Business France a ‘Webinar on business opportunities in East African countries’ on its Virtual Exhibition Platform – Mauritius Expo on 18 September 2024. More than hundred participants from various sectors of the Mauritian industry followed the event.
It is worth noting that East Africa recorded regional economic growth of 5.1% in 2023, the highest on the continent. According to forecast from the African Development Bank (AfDB), growth in the short and medium term will remain at more than 5%, achieved among others by Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, representing a market of approximately 180 million inhabitants.
Today, Mauritius export animal feed, glass, sugar, chemicals, aluminum, seafood, and textile products to these countries. Regional agreements (COMESA, SADC, AfCFTA) as well as export incentives from the Mauritian government offer a range of opportunities for Mauritian economic operators to seize regional potential and boost their exports in these booming markets.
To get a better understanding about the potential of these markets and their distribution networks, we invite you to watch the webinar if you have missed it!
