Fortinet is recognised as a driving force in the evolution of cybersecurity with business presence in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and is now expanding in Africa. The group has a client base of over 700,000 enterprises. What has motivated a global industry giant such as Fortinet to consider Mauritius as a ‘mature enough market’ for its cybersecurity solutions?
Fortinet is a global cybersecurity leader driving the convergence of networking and security. We focus on the key challenges that organizations face in safeguarding complex Cyber security threats, by offering a thorough examination of security solutions and strategies to ensure effective protection of user information, data and systems.
Indeed, Fortinet is investing in Africa and is making the commitment to expand its footprint of Cyber Security offerings like Unified SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), a solution which support the hybrid workforce of today, ensuring a secure access for remote workers, no matter where they are. The company has launched a first Point-of-Presence, in South Africa and plans to expand its reach to other African countries in the Southern African region.
2. How does Fortinet contribute to tackle the global issues of workforce shortages in the ICT sector. And what is your forecast about market growth in cybersecurity in Mauritius?
Fortinet published a research report on Cybersecurity Skills Gap in 2023 following an online survey conducted with IT and Cybersecurity decision-makers. The survey showed that 68% of organisations recognised facing additional risks because of Cybersecurity skills shortage, which was an increase from the previous year, and that 56% of companies struggled to recruit talents.
Fortinet has launched ‘’The Fortinet NSE Training Institute’’ which is an institution providing one of the largest and broadest training programmes in the industry, making cyber training and new career opportunities available to everyone. The company is also a founding member of the World Economic Forum’s Centre for Cybersecurity, and a charter member of the Cybercrime Atlas, a joint initiative launched by the organization’s Partnership Against Cybercrime project. Those are some of the efforts driven by Fortinet to address the critical, timely cybersecurity challenges impacting entities around the globe.
With regards to forecast on market growth, I believe that it will also cover the critical requirement for cyber security solutions for all the vertical markets in Mauritius. With the large changes in digital transformation across industries, we see the demand for Cyber Security transformation growing at a similar rate or sometimes even higher, and along with this growth the demand for skilled people will also increase.
3. As you are aware, Mauritius is recognised as a global centre for business and innovation due to its strategic geographical location, friendly business environment and the range of trade and investment agreements which create bridges between businesses and continents. The country has also been a preferred destination for companies to set up their headquarters or to conduct back office and shared service operations because of its bilingualism. Fortinet’s global clients base is over 700,000, from both Anglophone and Francophone regions. Given those attributes, how do you foresee the growth of Fortinet in Mauritius?
Fortinet does not have offices in Mauritius at this time, but we are present through our Fortinet master distributor, Exclusive Networks Mauritius which is based in Moka. The company employs local workforce which supports the expansion of our services and helps to create value to the economy of Mauritius and those of other Indian Ocean Islands.
